Privacy policy
Clink keeps your social life on your phone. This page explains, in plain language, what information is involved when you use the app, what isn't, and the controls you have over it.

01
The short version
Clink is built to keep your social life on your phone. Your voice recordings, photos, hangouts, and memories live in your device's local storage — not on our servers.
- Voice never leaves your device. Speech-to-text runs locally using Apple's on-device recognizer.
- Only the final sentence is sent to our AI parser. No audio, no photos, no identifiers.
- You can delete everything in one tap from in-app Settings.
- No ads, no tracking pixels, no third-party analytics SDKs.
02
Who we are
“Clink”, “we”, “us”, and “our” refer to the team operating the Clink iOS application. If you have questions about this policy or your information, contact us at support@clinkapps.com.
03
Information we handle
We try to handle as little personal information as possible. Where information is involved, it falls into these categories:
- Content you create — hangouts you log, the people associated with them, vibe categories, notes, mood ratings, and any photos you attach. This is stored on your device using Apple's SwiftData. We don't see it.
- Voice input — when you tap the microphone, your speech is transcribed locally on your iPhone using Apple's on-device speech recognizer. The audio is not recorded, retained, or uploaded by Clink.
- Text sent for AI parsing — the final transcribed sentence (or text you typed) is sent to Google's Gemini API to extract structured fields (title, people, location, datetime, vibe). Once parsed, the result is returned to your device and the request ends. We don't retain the text on our servers.
- Subscription information — if you upgrade to Clink Pro, Apple handles the purchase. We receive a non-personal receipt from the App Store indicating your subscription status; we do not see your credit card or Apple ID.
- Diagnostics — if you opt in to share crash logs via Apple's standard system prompt, anonymous crash data is sent to Apple, not to us.
04
What we don't collect
To be explicit, Clink does not collect or have access to:
- Your contacts list (we do not request the Contacts permission).
- Your location (we do not request location permissions).
- Your photo library (only photos you explicitly attach to a memory).
- Your audio recordings (only on-device transcription is used).
- Advertising identifiers or cross-app tracking signals.
05
How we use information
The limited information involved is used solely to:
- Parse the natural-language sentence you provided into structured plan fields.
- Provide local notifications for hangouts you've scheduled.
- Verify your Clink Pro subscription status with Apple.
- Diagnose and fix bugs you have explicitly opted to report.
06
Third-party services
Clink uses two third-party services:
- Apple Speech Framework — runs entirely on-device on supported iPhones. No audio is transmitted to Apple by Clink.
- Google Gemini API — receives only the final transcribed sentence to return parsed JSON. Per Google's API terms applicable to paid usage, your prompts are not used to train Google's models. See Google's privacy documentation for current details.
We do not embed third-party advertising SDKs, third-party analytics SDKs, or social tracking pixels.
07
Your controls
You always have direct control over your data. From inside the iOS app you can:
- Revoke microphone or notifications permission at any time in iOS Settings.
- Delete an individual hangout, memory, or person.
- Tap “Delete all data” to permanently erase your local Clink database.
- Export all of your hangouts as a JSON file you control.
08
Data retention
Because your Clink data lives on your device, it persists as long as you keep the app installed. Uninstalling Clink removes the local database from your iPhone. The text sent to the Gemini parser is not retained by Clink after a parse request completes.
09
Children
Clink is intended for users aged 17 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information via Clink, please contact us so we can address it.
10
International users
Because the substantive data stays on your iPhone, most processing happens on your device. When the parser request is made, it may be routed to Google infrastructure in regions outside your country. By using Clink you consent to this limited cross-border processing of the text you submit for parsing.
11
Your rights (GDPR, CCPA)
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete personal information about you. Because Clink stores your data locally on your device, you can exercise these rights directly inside the app — exporting your data as JSON or deleting it entirely from Settings. For any other request, email support@clinkapps.com and we will respond within 30 days.
12
Security
Your Clink database is stored inside the app's iOS sandbox and protected by iOS file-level encryption when your device is locked. Parser requests are sent over HTTPS. No security model is perfect, so please use a passcode on your iPhone and keep your device up to date.
13
Changes to this policy
If we materially change how Clink handles information, we will post an updated policy at this URL and update the “Last updated” date above. For substantial changes, we'll surface a notice inside the app before the change takes effect.
